Collections start at $195.
Your $195 booking reserves your appointment and includes our PROLOGUE Collection — the smallest one we offer.
Want more after you see the photographs? You can upgrade to a larger collection during your Reveal + Ordering Appointment. Wall art and albums are also available separately.
No minimum purchase beyond the collection you’ve already booked.
HOW LONG IS A SESSION?
Up to 30 minutes.
That’s enough time to settle in, get comfortable and let some personality show up — without asking a kid to spend half their Saturday in a photography studio.
WHAT AGE DO YOU PHOTOGRAPH?
Modern Kids is designed for kids 4+.
Our studio is intentionally small, and the setup includes lights, stands and photography equipment with limited room for little ones who need to explore everything they see.
Starting at four keeps the session safe, relaxed and focused on making great portraits rather than chasing anyone around the studio.
HOW MANY KIDS CAN I BRING?
One session can include up to [2/3] siblings.
We’ll photograph them individually and together, depending on the collection you choose and what we can comfortably fit into 30 minutes.
For larger sibling or friends crews, contact us before booking and we’ll figure out the best option.
DO YOU PHOTOGRAPH FAMILIES?
We do. Just not here.
Modern Kids is the kids’ zone.
These sessions are intentionally built around them — their faces, personalities, interests and the wonderfully strange little stage of life they’re in right now.
Family portraits deserve their own time and space, so we photograph those separately.
HOW DO WE CHOOSE OUR PHOTOS?
A few days after your session, we’ll meet on Zoom for your private Reveal + Ordering Appointment.
You’ll see your portraits, choose the images included in your collection and decide if you’d like to add more.
We’ll also show you options for wall art, albums and portrait groupings. There is no obligation to purchase anything beyond your collection.
HOW SHOULD WE PREPARE?
Don’t practice smiles. Seriously.
Clean faces, simple clothing and a well-rested kid are much more useful.
We’ll send you a short preparation guide before your session with everything you need to know about clothing, colors and what works well in the studio.
WHO IS THE PHOTOGRAPHER?
Hi, I’m Joanna.
I’ve been photographing children and families for more than 15 years, which has taught me one very important thing:
Kids are much more interesting when we stop asking them to perform.
I’ll guide when guidance is needed, be ridiculous when necessary, and leave enough room for your kid to actually show up in the photographs.
HOW DOES CANCELLATION WORK?
Kids get sick. We understand.
With at least [48/72] hours’ notice, your retainer can be transferred once to another available Modern Kids Studio Day. Cancellations with less notice and no-shows forfeit the retainer.
Because there are only a small number of sessions available on each Studio Day, we can’t always replace a last-minute cancellation.
WHAT IS THE THE 9UP?
Nine photographs. One kid. Zero need to pick a favorite.
A statement piece created from the different sides of their personality — because the serious face belongs on the wall too.
